Well this company stems from my love for art, my inability to draw or paint, the excitement of opening things and not knowing what you're getting, and most importantly the importance of individuality.
I really believe that everyone is their own person. There's no point in trying to be something you're not, it just won't last. You can't look like someone else, you won't always be able to have the same clothes or jewelry as someone else. So here, this rug is yours, it is as original as you are, 1 of 1. I hope you love its uniqueness as much as you love your own, and if you don't, I hope you learn to.
anyways, here's how we started
When I was younger I played a lot of Fifa, my favorite part of the game was packs. I never knew what players I would get, if it would be a walkout or a team of the week. There was no excitement like it. I love that concept, I had no idea what I would get out of those packs and that's why I got them. I would never buy a pack if I knew what was inside.
So I took that concept and combined it with another passion I had. Art, although the big problem is that I was horrific at drawing and painting. I always doodled during class and I always had sweet concepts but could never put them on paper, I just can't do it. Then it hit me, RUGZ! I had no idea how to make a rug but l wanted to give it a shot. I actually developed the concept of this company before ever making a rug.
Anyways, Christmas came around and I had to deliver a great gift to my Nana and Nonni. I wouldn't be outdone by my siblings or cousins.
So I went to a tufting workshop and I made the two very first Ugly Rugz for my grandmas. I stayed in contact with the guy who ran the workshop and he told me how to get started tufting on my own. I got the supplies and started making my doodle ideas into rugz and not incomprehensible drawings in my intro to philosophy notebook.
